The British Journal of Photography, since its beginnings in the 1850's, has been an incredible photographic resource. What we are offering here is a set of twenty (20) bound volumes of this weekly publication, spanning the years 1920 through 1939.

The volume included for 1926 only includes issues from July through December; the first half of the year is not included. There is no volume for 1929; and 1930 consists of two volumes. Many of the volumes include advertising, either bound in proper sequence, or bound as an addendum at the back of the volume. Many of the volumes also include an extensive supplement on color photography.

Each volume contains between 700 and 800 pages, and are all complete to the best of our knowledge (with the exceptions noted above). These volumes are ex-library US Patent Department, and contain stamped identification of the Patent Department Library randomly through them.

    1920-Volume 67 804 pages of Text + 48-page Color Supplement. No advertising.
1921-Volume 68 764 pages pf text + 48-page Color Supplement. No advertising; bound pages separated from covers.

1930-Volume 77 (July-December)316 pages of text + 24-page Color Supplement. Advertising pages (approximately 20 pages per issue) are bound with each issue.

1936-Volume 83 824 pages of text + approximately 180 pages of advertising bound at back.
1937-Volume 84 842 pages of text + approximately 180 pages of advertising bound at back.
1938-Volume 85 832 pages of text + 152 pages of advertising bound at back.
1939-Volume 86 764 pages of text + 210 pages of advertising bound at back.
All volumes are hard-bound, each identifying the publication, year and volume number on the spine (see illustrations). Because of the quality of the paper the magazine was originally printed on (newsprint quality), most pages have assumed a yellow cast, primarily at the edges, and certainly not interfering with their readbility or usability. Any loose pages or bindings are noted above.

Since our own interest runs to pre-1900 photography, we never even read these volumes; but have simply had them in our own reference library -- just in case.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a significant collection of one of the most sought-after photographic publications of the period. The British Journal of Photography is extremely highly regarded as thoroughly documenting the history and development of photorgaphy as it happened.

As a bonus, we will also include five separate bound volumes of the monthly color supplement to the BJP, from the years 1914, 1918, 1918, 1920 and 1921.

SHIPPING CHARGES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE, AND WILL VARY DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION. PLEASE INQUIRE REGARDING SPECIFIC SHIPPING CHARGES TO YOUR LOCATION. Total weight of this collection, packed for shipping, will be approximately 150 pounds.

Because purchase of this collection will be a major investment, we will be happy to answer any questions we can to the best of our ability. Please call (860) 496-9791 or e-mail me with any questions.
