Craig's Daguerreian Registry, 2003 Revised Edition. Newly published in mid-September, 2003, this revised edition continues the tradition of documenting all the known daguerreotypists operating in the United States between 1839 and 1860. The Revised Edition is presented in two volumes (softcover only), totaling more than 750 pages.
Volume 1 arranges the more than 9.400 biographical entries alphabetically, and provides known information on each, supplemented by reference citiations. Photographers, assistants, manufacturers and dealers are all documented here; known street addresses, partnerships, employes, movements and life stories are all carefully recorded. Information on many (most) of these early photographers continues to be minimal; but here, for the first time, all the information that is available has been brought together.
Volume 2 provides, in "spread-sheet" format, a complete cross-reference of all the names in Volume 1. Volume 2 is arranged alphabetically by state by state and city, listing the operators, dates, and employes and partnerships. Volume 2 also contains extensive bibliographic references and sources of information.
