We realize that no photograph or scan of a daguerreotype or other image can be a 100% perfect reproduction. We do our best to accurately reproduce and desribe the images, but your final acceptance can only come when you actually hold the image in your hand. We will gladly accept a return of any image that does not meet your expectations, provided you notify us of your intention to return it, and it has not been tampered with in any way.

#31961: POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE Outstandingly sharp quarter-plate ambrotype of a youngish man with an almost pompadore hair-style and what appears to be quite large ears. The image was black-lacquered on the back, and some of the lacquer has worn off; easily restored. The brass mat is stamped "Ambrotype by Gutekunst, 706 Arch St" in the lower left corner, and "Patented July 4 and 11, 54" in the lower right corner. The image is originally sealed, and sharper in detail than appears in the scan. Presented in a double-clasp leather case, showing normal wear at the hinge. A very nice example of the quality of work by this Philadelphia artist. $195.00
